Fashion School Dreams Come True

It's Sassy's dream to be a fashion designer. She made a beautiful dream come true. Her first creation came out extremely well. She's feeling very self assured. I can see that Sutchat needs that same feeling. They so are close, but jealousy arises and so does envy, and that turns into self-loathing. It's very challenging. Sutchat has the potential to be a gymnast and a great dancer, I can encourage her to be patient and wait her for her time. Thinking of a way to make her feel special.

Happy Birthday Sassy

My oldest daughter hits her double digits tomorrow and we celebrated at the water front. Dinner and a movie seems like such a simple concept. To see her order for herself like a big girl, carry herself like a lady and even be a responsible big sister at the movies (offering to hold the baby) warms my heart. We saw a very teenage romantic comedy called Monte Carlo. She's only ten and she already dreams of falling in love and going to Europe with her sisters and girlfriends. I want her to slow down and concentrate on her fashion career and music. So we enrolled in her in Wee Scotty Fashion School www.weescotty.com and she's getting a new Fender Stratocaster, and tons of fashion design equipment, light box, sketch pads, colored pencils, and tons of style wheels. She's also getting a sewing machine. She should be sitting in the lap of luxury this time tomorrow. She's getting so big. Muah my love!

Cooking Class, Jazz, and Cell Phones

I spent two hours today teaching a cooking class at a friend's house. I met the coolest, most intelligent thought provoking young people ever. I realize that I would like to help them in as many ways I can. I think it starts with consistency, so I have to remember to start small and not make too many promises, so that I can stay true.

My son's wonderful Bass Teacher came over to the house today and it was actually presentable enough to let her in. Awesome. She says that he is the most advanced student in the group. I wonder if she says this to all of the parents. Hmmmmm.

I also realized I spend mad time calling my own cell phone because I'm constantly hiding it from the baby while really hiding it from myself. Please let someone invent an app that lets you call your cell phone by name.

There's no such thing as a perfect day, maybe...

What kind of California family would we be if we didn't take time and ride. Horseback riding is as old to the west as it is to Africans in America. Bill Pickett and his band of rodeo all stars celebrate and chronicle this history. With strong military roots and ties the Bill Pickett rodeo shows how rich and connected blacks in the west are to horses. There were a lot of fine animals and showmanship at this years festival. I'm not sure what was more fun to watch, Sutchat and Sasen dancing and winning money or to see the children's ease around the animals. The weather was awesome, warm but not to hot and not a cloud in the sky. It was, in Sutchat's words, a perfect day. As a mom it's hard for me to say Perfect Day or believe it, I remember my granny saying never set yourself up for disappointment looking for perfection. Still if the children feel that things are "perfect" I have to hug myself and my husband, and my sister, and the other children, we must be doing something right.
